Build Empowering Sri Lankans to learn Japanese, experience the culture, and build futures in japan

Empowering Sri Lankans to learn Japanese, experience the culture, and build futures in Japan.
“At Yoshioka Academy, we provide native-instructed language education, cultural immersion, and pathways to higher studies and professional careers in Japan, creating meaningful connections between Sri Lanka and Japan.”

Yoshioka Academy stands as a bridge between Sri Lanka and Japan, a place where learning the Japanese language becomes more than education; it becomes a life-changing journey of cultural discovery, personal growth, and opportunity.

Founded under the vision and guidance of Mr. Masaki Yoshioka, the Academy was established to open doors for Sri Lankans to connect deeply with Japan — its language, traditions, discipline, and values. What began as a heartfelt initiative to strengthen ties between two nations has grown into a thriving community of learners who share a passion for global understanding and excellence.

At Yoshioka Academy, we believe that language is not merely about words , it’s about connection. Every class, every activity, and every cultural exchange is designed to help students experience the essence of Japan — its respect, harmony, and spirit of perseverance. Through immersive teaching, cultural celebrations, and hands-on programs, students gain the skills and confidence to pursue higher education, professional careers, and meaningful lives in Japan.

Our commitment goes beyond academics. We nurture individuals who carry both Sri Lankan warmth and Japanese discipline — individuals ready to inspire, lead, and contribute wherever they go. With guidance from experienced educators and support from our Japanese partners, we ensure every student receives the highest quality learning experience with a touch of heart and humanity.

Yoshioka Academy continues to grow as a symbol of friendship, collaboration, and cultural exchange between Sri Lanka and Japan. Here, dreams find direction, efforts find meaning, and futures take flight — powered by understanding, respect, and a shared vision for a better tomorrow.

President's Message

Greetings,

Natural and social issues revolving around humanity, such as climate change due to global warming, ongoing wars and conflicts, distribution of resources and food, advancements and applications of IT technology, and control, are complex problems that cannot be easily solved. They have various impacts on us in different ways. However, amidst these macroscopic issues, we have strived for a better life as individuals and members of communities through education, professions, and other avenues.

Our foundation aims to contribute to the resolution of social issues in both countries through the support of Japanese language education, fostering smooth exchange and mutual understanding between Japanese language learners, Japanese individuals, and Japanese society.

Currently, specific ongoing activities include providing scholarships to Japanese language learners in Sri Lanka and the Philippines, supporting the educational environment, facilities, and materials for institutions responsible for Japanese education as partners on the ground. Additionally, to enhance the skills of local Japanese language teachers, we plan to conduct training by inviting them to Japan from October this year.

The scholarship recipients, 40 from each country, a total of 80 annually, will undergo 6 months of Japanese language learning (500 hours) and vocational education. Support will also be considered for Japanese language education in Timor-Leste based on their request.

Upon completion of their studies, if Japanese language learners wish to seek employment or further studies in Japan, we will provide assistance. Collaboration from various sectors is crucial for achieving this, and fostering such cooperation is also one of the foundation’s objectives.

In the future, we plan to further explore exchanges in the fields of culture and the arts.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Thank you very much.

Our History & Values

Yoshioka Academy was established in 2025 as a proud initiative of General Foundation Yoshioka Cultural Education Association, Japan, to bring authentic Japanese language and cultural education to Sri Lanka. The Academy officially opened its doors on November 1st, 2025, at Unity Plaza, Colombo, under the leadership of Mr. Masaki Yoshioka (Founder & Director) and Ms. Satomi Kobinata (Director & Principal).

Built on the strong foundation of General Foundation Yoshioka Cultural Education Association’s long-standing commitment to education and cultural exchange, the Academy aims to create new pathways for Sri Lankan students to learn Japanese, understand its rich traditions, and pursue higher studies and careers in Japan.

We uphold values of excellence, respect, discipline, and cultural harmony. Our mission is to nurture individuals who can connect the two nations through knowledge, understanding, and opportunity — building a bridge of friendship between Sri Lanka and Japan
